In the animated adaptation of Campaign One, Vox Machina first appeared in Emon, where they attempted to make ends meet as a group of mercenaries. They were flat broke and had been banned from every tavern in the city. As they contemplated their failures, Scanlan found a public notice from Sovereign Uriel Tal'Dorei offering a reward to any mercenary who could kill the unknown beast laying waste to the Shalesteps.
